Not a real "relationship" film
OK. We don't expect this movie to be a slick Hollywood flick. It says it's about relationships and a wonderful independent film. So we go to the film hoping for some insight on relationships and come away without experiencing anything memorable.
The acting from the main characters and bartender is generally well done. Not always polished, but sometimes it's hard to separate acting from directing and writing.
The biggest flaw in this film? They need to decide who their audience is. Is it for mature adults who have real relationships? or is it for teenage or college-age boys who take great pleasure in acting stupid, drinking beer and treating women as sex objects...thinking all these things are somehow cool. If they are shooting to please the people who watch reality date shows, then they have a chance at good reviews.
I wanted to like the main character, but to get over his divorce, his friends take him to a strip club. Maybe the new director wanted to try some nude shots? As a...
Surprised - it only had a 3-something rating on IMdB, but it was enjoyable.
I bought it as a sort of 'bonus/fill-in' when I ordered other 'SuperSave shipping' on Amazon. It was rated only about 3 stars, but it had some decent acting and a little 'twist' to keep it interesting. Somewhere in the intro there was a note that it was based on a true story.. not sure if that's true, but it was a good watch, nonetheless.
Enjoyed this one alot
I hadnt seen any trailers on this one or heard anything about it but picked it up while browsing and I am very glad I did. In my opinion, it is a great independent film and after seeing it, I opted to buy it. It isnt flashy or big budget but really is very entertaining. I was pulling for the characters to see their way clear to a relationship and I really enjoyed the twist at the end. The relationship of Sam and his student was great and so normal because teenagers are just that way. The actors played people in the film who had character, values and integrity. Sam's student, as a teenager didnt just let the boys jump her bones, Janet didnt just jump into bed with Sam on the first date and Sam respected her feelings by not pushing the point. When Janet made a major mistake that hurt Sam, she apologized without turning it around and trying to put the blame on Sam. That is why I think this is a really good relationship movie because this kind of stuff really happens.
