WWE: Elimination Chamber 2013 [Blu-ray]

The Return Of The Great One
this was way better than the previous elimination chamber which i attended live. Worth the price. Great buy. 4 stars.

The Elimination Chamber 2013
The Elimination Chamber 2013 was a fantastic DVD! The card was filled with action. The wrestling action was great. Thank you WWE

Very good
World Heavyweight Championship: Alberto Del Rio (C) vs. BIg Show

What you expect from both competitors. No big surprises, but a decent match.

3.0/5

Cena, Ryback and Sheamus vs. The Shield

The ending is a little hard to call. It's good in the sense that it's not what's expected, but sucks in that it shouldn't have happened.

3.0/5

Elimination Chamber: Kane vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho vs. Mark Henry vs. Jack Swagger

Good match. Team Hell No has their usual banter. Henry has a solid showing, as does Swagger.

3.0/5

Diva's Championship: Kaitlyn (C) vs. Tamina Snuka

Solid match. I didn't know who Tamina was, but I thought she wrestled just like Jimmy Snuka, and my friend told me it was his daughter. Kaitlyn has some good moves.

3.5/4

U.S. Championship: Antonio Cesaro (C) vs. The Miz

Good match. Both nailed their timing...

Lifeforce (Collector's Edition) [Blu-Ray/DVD Combo]

imaginative vampire twist
This movie has a very original twist on the old standard vampire tale, with the horror Cult King director - Tobe Hooper at the helm. It is taut pace movie scripted by Dan O'Bannon (Blue Thunder) from a Colin Wilson (Max Headroom) book. The casts is a powerhouse, Frank Finlay as Dr. Hanns Fallada, Peter Firth Brit Colonel Colin Caine, the always bizarrely brilliant Steve Railsback, Mathilda May as the female Space Vampire (not many lines but she does make an "impression"), Patrick Stewart (pre Jean Luc) as Dr. Armstrong, John Hallam (The Mummy) as Lamson and Chris Jagger as a guard (Yeppers, that is the brother of Mick!). Add in some nifty Special Effects for the vampire victims and you have one really great time!

The vampire tale is rather worn, but they manage to give a fresh take on it. Instead of fangs and sucking neck, they suck the "lifeforce" from humans, leaving the body robbed of everything and looking like a "tube of toothpaste all squished...

An underrated Sci/Fi epic
Though director Tobe Hoooper has had more downs than ups in his career, his film Lifeforce comes out being one of his best, following only Texas Chainsaw Massacre adn Poltergeist. Though initially a box-office failure, I found Lifeforce to be a refreshing story in the otherwise repetitive Science Fiction genre. That's whats sad about the genre; when filmmakers come out with somehting new and different, it flops, but if it's another ALien rip-off, box-office hit. This "vampire" story takes a new turn on the vampire myth, with aliens arriving on Earth that drain people of "lifeforce," the essence of life. I found most of the performances to be great, espiceally Peter Firth as British Agaent Kane. He makes this film totally believable. Steve Railsback is actually the weakest in the cast, but I have to hand it to him, he had a difficult role to play and he did a credible job at it. The effects are also very good for the time and the filmmakers use their fairly high budget to their...

3 1/2 stars for a pretty good vampires-from-space flick
I'm chuckling with myself at my over-the-top rating for this over-the-top movie. I stumbled upon this movie years ago and had it on VHS tape copied from somewhere. I then found a DVD version with an upgraded soundtrack (Henry Mancini!!) and bought it. I think that is the first time I'd seen it on DVD. It looks good except the widescreen isn't upgraded to anamorphic. That's all fixed with this new Blu ray version. Transferred with a 1080p resolution and a 2.40:1 aspect ratio, this is a big improvement over the old DVD. A DVD is included in this package properly formatted.

"Lifeforce" is a sci-fi horror film ala "Alien" (same screenwriter, Dan O'Bannon along with Don Jakoby) with a bigger budget and with extra nudity. Directed by "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" & "Poltergeist" filmmake Tobe Hooper, the movie is pretty good, even without the nudity.

While on a mission to hunt down Halley's Comet, Col. Carlsen (Steve Railsback) and his crew encounter a space craft...

Doomsday Preppers: Season 2

Interesting
The show is definitely starting to showcase the eccentric. Sadly, it has an opportunity to show the sane reason why people prep, such as for a hurricane or ice storm and instead they choose the ones who are on the fringe of reality. I realize that they have to compete with other "reality" shows like "honey boo boo" so they choose the most entertaining ones. The special they did before the series even started was so much better. It seems that once they were given the go for a series, they went downhill.
Granted, the show does have some good tips but lets get back to what made it good!!

With preppers like Jason, guess I'd rather be among the dead
This is a good show, but it's really showing a bias of a fringy extreme minority of the borderline mentally ill. I don't think all preppers are crazy, for example, because I could be considered one ;). This Jason kid, though, the 13 yr old kid who said he'd bug out without his mom and would have no problem killing people, seems like a little serial killer in the making. He looks like a future police mugshot in a banner ad, dead cow eyes and droning voice. At the end of the day, these preppers are coming to an illogical conclusion that man, who evolved to be a social creature, can have personal sovereignty and sustain himself. The ultimate example that prepping is false is that even Yukon men and Siberian trappers have to bring their furs back to town to trade for their snow machine fuel, axes, and food that isn't just sable meat or what not. So what if you survive 300 days; what happens after that? You leave your bunker and try to grow plants in the fallout soil? even if it...

eye opener
awesome show to keep floating ideas about what could be dooms day and how to prep for a emergency situation
