Attitude Era / Triple H: King of Kings (2 Pack)

From Terra Ryzing To A McMahon...It's Time To Play The Game
As I stated on my "That Damn Good" DVD review...backstage politics aside, Triple H is one of the best performers in the industry today. He's for the in-ring presence of a modern day Harley Race with the charisma & diversity of Ric Flair. It's been a long time (over 5 years) since they dropped a DVD SOLEY on The Game & it will take the same format that Austin's & Hogan's latest releases are where they'll have his matches with comments in between on various incidents such as getting started in the business, time in WCW, Chyna, the curtain call, King Of The Ring including a funny story about the "crown" itself, the evolution (no pun intended) of his character, his quad injury, Shawn's return, Ric Flair, Batista, Edge & John Cena amongst other things.

Matches include: vs. John Crystal - This was his RAW debut & nothing special past that.
RAW May 1995

vs. WWE Intercontinental Champion Marc Mero - Triple H's first title reign began here as the whole plan...

The line up.
Straight from Silvervision.co.uk:

There is only one Triple H, and now for the first time ever, the King of Kings reflects on his storied WWE career with new exclusive interviews discussing his biggest matches, moments, and rivalries. More than a dozen bouts are presented in their entirety, including some never before released on DVD.

Elevating the Game...

The Cerebral DVD
i bought this DVD the day it came out and finished watching it in about 3 days. this is a good release, especially for WWE DVD collectors that grow tired of seeing the same matches on EVERY WWE DVD (Rock-Hogan WM X-8 anyone?).

I have about 15 WWE Superstar DVDs and I can say the only match from this HHH DVD i had was the 02 Royal Rumble.

The rest of these matches are pretty rare, and although there are only about 14 matches, I would still recommend this DVD. The matches are all good, especially the ones against Mick Foley (3). I only gave this DVD 4 Stars due to the lack of a documentary (will probably be released in the future) and the decision to only go with 2 discs, instead of the fairly-common 3 for WWE DVDs.

I would probably say Bret Hart, HBK, and the Ladder Match DVDs are all a bit better than this one because they have more content, but i can't stress enough the overall match quality on this Triple H DVD.

In the end, this is a...

Showdown at Boot Hill [Blu-ray]

When will there be a DVD???
I'm a huge Charles Bronson fan and I'd love to see this movie but I don't feel right spending that amount on an old VHS. Anyone who reads this I'd like to see it on DVD, just send an email to Amazon and if enough people request it. With a little luck, they might do a burn on demand release. (Hopefully a decent qualify transfer)

Very Young Bronson
I have said this about other actors & their movies, If you are a Charles Bronson fan you will enjoy this film. If not I believe the odds of liking this film are less. If you are a western fan odds may go back up. It is Bl & Wh and kind of slow paced but the acting is fine.

Showdown
Not all that great; the only thing that saved it was Charles Bronson, who is always good. Worth a watch.

The Ghastly Love of Johnny X

Juvenile Delinquents From Space!: This Offbeat Parody Combines Music With Sci-Fi
The cult oddity "The Ghastly Love of Johnny X" is one of those rare movies that I suspect will be a complete love-it or hate-it phenomenon. Some will say the movie is a masterpiece of originality while others will decry it one of the worst movies ever made. Just watch, I fully stand by this prediction! For my taste, the movie is neither extreme. This low budget endeavor is an obvious labor of love to its makers and cast, it has some genuinely memorable moments, but it never really comes together as strongly as you might hope. I was really looking forward to "The Ghastly Love of Johnny X" because the idea really appealed to my oddball sensibilities. I have been known to champion cult films of this type (Larry Blamire films, for example, come to mind, especially the sublimely silly The Trail of the Screaming Forehead). Mixing science fiction with musicals with sixties era juvenile delinquents, there is certainly no lack of imagination in director Paul Bunnell's vision. But the...

Ghastly, yes, and a lot of fun, too!
THE GHASTLY LOVE OF JOHNNY X is an extremely entertaining movie, hard to categorize, yet always engaging. Right away we see the main characters are from some distant planet, setting the mood for what is to come. The fun really begins when we discover inner turmoil within Johnny's band of delinquent pals, banished to Earth because they won't play by the rules at home. One of them, the gorgeous and headstrong Bliss, has abandoned the gang and stolen Johnny's Resurrection Suit, and he wants it back. Some cult favorite actors add weight to the proceedings, including Reggie Bannister, Paul Williams and Kevin McCarthy, in his final role. Creed Bratton of THE OFFICE is unrecognizable in his bizarre and very funny turn, and even sweet Kate Maberly gets into the action before things are over.

If you've caught this wacky gem at one of its film festival screenings, then this is the dvd you've been waiting for. If you haven't, do yourself a favor and check it out! I myself was -...

Entertaining sci-fi musical - highly original
It has a similar zest and campiness as the musical "Little Shop of Horrors.". Lots of humor. Excellent music and dance numbers in this strange sci-fi story that also echoes the flavor of a Twilight Zone And a touch of "Rocky Horror Picture Show".
Surprisingly entertaining - a low budget labor of love by a talented director.

Asheton, Ron - Tribute Concert With Iggy & The Stooges And Friends

Great Show
Stooges rock the sold-out Michigan Theater in their home town Ann Arbor in a killer tribute to the late Ron Asheton. There are moving testimonials by Rons brother Scott and Henry Rollins. Iggy and the band rip through their Raw Power based set, with some surprises from Kill City and others. Deniz Tek from Radio Birdman takes over on guitar for a short set from the first two albums. There is backing and interludes by a small orchestra. For Stooge fans everywhere, this is an unusual and unique one-off event, not to be missed. James Williamson returns and Steve Mackay joins in a rave-up for the last tune, No Fun.

Sound quality and visuals are excellent, and the performances are great.

The perfect gift since Netflix does not carry this...
This is special and the perfect gift for the Iggy Pop, Mike Watt, Ron Asheton fan. Apparently Netflix does not carry this and it was on my boyfriend's Amazon wish list.

Good by Ron
This was a great show. It started off a little slow but picked up quickly. I was glad to see how well orchestra music and the stooges music worked together it just shows theirs still room to grow in music.

For once the suspense is real
Just saw this on Pay Per View. Tremendously exciting, very realistic about a prostitute's life, and -- best of all -- there's real suspense. The audience is never certain who, if anyone, will survive. Some people complain that characters in movies of this sort are not likable, but I think it's made very clear that the two lead women are in a profession that leaves them no time to be likable. Both of them do a tremendous job.

The action came a little thick and fast. I don't think I'd have accepted so many coincidences if they had all turned out in the heroines' favor. And the young prostitute was written both a little too naive and a little too generous. That's worth taking off a star, but I haven't seen such a tense movie in years, nor one that worked so well. Compared with this the typical Hollywood action flick is pure comic book.

I WANT THE ILLUSION
Holly Rowe (Viva Bianca) a call girl has saved up enough money for retirement. She is getting ready to go to Paris. Michael, one of Holly's Johns is a married man who has an unhealthy attachment for her. He wants to run away with her to Paris.

Meanwhile Shay (Hanna Mangan Lawrence) is the new girl on the block making money by giving hand jobs to old men while talking dirty (I couldn't believe that is what old men always request from young girls.) Shay doesn't have a pimp to "protect" her. She has been stepping on the other girl's territory without paying her dues.

Holly has a big score and needs a second girl. All the other girls are busy. That is when she runs into Shay (literally) in the street. She takes Shay under her wing. Of course nothing goes as planned and the working girls witness a murder. They are on the run because...? Prostitutes make for credible witnesses and always run to the cops when they see a crime. The movie becomes a game of cat and mouse...

A Gritty Australian Thriller That Starts Strong But Then Travels Down A Very Familiar Road
I decided to check out Jon Hewitt's "X" anticipating a provocative adult drama. And indeed as the film opened with a delightfully unexpected and somewhat creepy sexual escapade, I thought this Australian endeavor might be a pleasantly twisted surprise exploring the seamy underbelly of the prostitution trade. The film is structured around two working girls, one is a high end call girl on the eve of retirement (Viva Bianca) and one is a penniless girl (Hanna Mangan Lawrence) spending her first night on the streets. As the opening sequences juxtaposed their exploits, the movie is an interesting examination of contrasting lifestyles. Both actresses are quite good in their respective roles, but it is Bianca who really stole the show for me. Recently seen in the Starz original "Spartacus" series as the wily and cunning Ilithyia, it was interesting to see her in something more modern (but no less explicit). And if these two roles are any indication, I suspect she is just at the beginning of...

Che 2

A Bold Experiment, A Fascinating Film.
Steven Soderbergh's "Che" is one of those rare films where you'll either like it or hate it. It is not a conventional biography, it isn't even a conventional movie. Soderbergh is not interested in presenting a loud, thundering film about the icon Che Guevara, but instead he wants to provide an almost scientific analysis of a man driven by an idea and the campaigns he engaged in. Like Sofia Coppola's "Marie Antoinette," this isn't a movie interested in bold political statements, it is simply trying to present events as they are known to have happened. It doesn't matter much whether you're a right-winger or a leftist, Soderbergh doesn't champion or attack Che's political views or goals, he simply presents a man's actions.

Benicio Del Toro (Traffic, 21 Grams) plays Guevara with an uncanny resemblance and a powerful presence. We meet him in Mexico City in the 1950s where he meets a group of Cuban exiles plotting the overthrow of the US-backed dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista...

Man of the revolution
Steven Soderbergh created one of those movies that is lucky to have been made at all -- a four-hour-plus biopic of Cuban revolutionary Che Guevara.

But like most biographical movies, it's something of a mixed bag. Visually atmosphere and low-key in style, the two halves of "Che" focus on pivotal slices of Guevara's life, with an amazing lead performance by Benicio Del Toro as the titular revolutionary. Unfortunately, it's also a very slow-moving affair that brushes past some of the more unsavory facets of Che Guevara's life and personality... and ironically many of the positive ones.

Part 1: In the 1960s, Guevara (Benicio Del Toro) is in New York City for a UN conference, being interviewed by a US reporter about his viewpoints as a guerilla leader and revolutionary. Then the narrative jumps back a decade to when he and others (including Fidel Castro) consider the many injustices over in Cuba and start planning for a revolution. Despite being Argentinian by...

A++
I thought this movie was fantastic. I'm not really into politics and don't really have an opinion if Che was a good or bad person. As far as it being a movie- the story, directing, scenery, acting- this was done with the highest of quality. Non Hollywood-like which what matters to me.
